Now that my anger has passed. Furthermore since additional steps were taken by the authors to make a verification of the published algorithm harder it seems really fishy. This really, really bugs me, because it is not an exception but seems to be the standard way of doing it in my field (chemometrics). And does not seem to lead to any problems in getting work published in high ranking journals.
