Hi, Our current Remedy application is being upgraded to ITSM7.6 and we plan to use ITSM universe that come with it. Can anybody please let me know how many tables are used by ITSM universe? BMC Analytics documentation list only 150 views used by universe and in same doc ITSM universe statistics tell it uses 600+ tables. Whats the exact number? We are planning for separate reporting db, with historical data included meaning no deletions at reporting db level. We looked for database replication but Golden Gate was the only option and is expensive.

  1. Bill Cipher The Universe Is A Hologram
  2. Universe Is A Hologram Yahoo

So we are considering ETL replication. Wondering if anybody has implemented ETL replication and how long nightly refresh would take to complete? Understand DSO is an option too, but does it have any impact to application performance we dont want reporting requirements to impact applications performance. Any help provided is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Veena. Hi Veena, Good to hear that you're upgrading to BMC Analytics for BSM 7.6.0.1.

For the first part of the question: yes the ITSM universe stats put the table count at 600+ while the the Analytics Documentation lists 150 views. The reason for this discrepancy is that the Analytics Universe is mostly made up of derived tables which account for the 600+ figure.

Universe

The reason we're using Derived tables is because the underlying ITSM table structure isn't very reporting friendly. Its with the use of derived tables that we've simplified most of the structure and made it better fit as a relational reporting base.

For the second part of your question: Typically the nightly cycle performance would depend on a lot of factors like the volume of data in the tables in the DB, volume of data transacted daily (for deltas), Volume of data in the tables in the DB, hardware and database configurations, database and processing availability etc. A separate reporting DB with Historical data included is definitely a good idea and also what our RD team is considering and is working on POC's and feasibility studies for the same in terms of making the existing universe more simplified, integrated and time variant capable. DSO is a powerful option for synching and synching in real time, however in terms of ease of use and Interface it doesn't yet have flexibility like typical ETL tools. I hope this helps. Business Objects Enterprise XI has supported Oracle RAC since R2SP4. If you are experiencing problems, please can you open a support issue in order that it can be properly analysed.

NOTE: If you have a default BOEXI installation, and you have extended BMC Analytics for BSM with additional reports; have large volumes of data; or have heavy report schedules; you may need to review the deployment configuration for performance and scalability. Dashboards has no known problems operating with Oracle RAC Dashboards can connect to Oracle RAC, but does not exploitRAC. (That is, you cannot supply a RAC compliant JDBC connection string) Thanks Regards Jim. Hi, trying to to get familiar with Analytics I did a report about some CIs (servers) and their related parent assets today and noticed discrepancies between the report and what can be seen in Asset Management. After some digging around I found that the report shows parents that were related at some time in the past but had the relationship (Component) removed again. Looking at the DB view BMCCOREBMCBaserelationship the records of the removed relations are still there but have the field markasdeleted set to 1.

Valid relations have a value of either 0 or null for that field. The universe doesn't seem to respect this flag and therefore shows all parents that were ever related to a specific CI. The same is true for children ('Assets related to Assets' in the universe). We are using Analytics 7.6.04 on BO 3.1, Remedy server and ITSM modules are on 7.6.04 too as far as I now. I think I must be missing something since I can't believe that this is intended behaviour but also can't believe a mistake like that would go unnoticed.

Any help or suggestions is welcome. If your data could have Scandinavian characters in the DB, I would recommend that you include moving from non-unicode to unicode as part of your upgrade. When I looked into migrating from non-unicode to unicode several years ago, Remedy recommended that I look into using Migrator. However, I think the DeltaDataMigration wizard would be a much more efficient option for you to use. I am not sure how big your Remedy database is so it is hard to predict how long it will take.

However, the 7.5 to 8.0 upgrade path that I followed involved having new servers setup with 8.0 that would replace our existing 7.5 system. This allowed us to run the old and new systems in parallel, and slowly move data over in batches until we got close to the Go-Live date. When the Go-Live Date came up, we only had a 24 hour data difference between our old and new systems. When we did the actual upgrade, we set the old system to Admin Only mode, migrated the last 24 hours of data through the DeltaDataMigration wizard, and then updated the load balancer to point to the new Remedy servers. Hi, I had a problem after install Portuguese ITSM 7.6.04 SP2 I verified that menus, reports, messages and others components are characters problems, these problems happen only in Portuguese interface. In Portuguese, characters like ', , ` and ^' are very common, in ITSM application all of them been replaced by others characters.

For example: In the first case, it should show 'Gerenciamento de Mudana', but the character ' was changed to others characters. The same not occurs in ARS. I created a linked universe as per the directions in the BMC Analytics for Business Service Management Installation Guide on pg 8183. I can view the universe in the CMC and all the permissions match those of the original ITSM universe, the connection is the ITSM connection and it tests fine.

When I attempt to create a new report, using either the java console or rich client, I get the following error after selecting the custom universe: Universe not found. See your Business Objects administrator. (Error: WIS 00501) I've deleted the custom universe and run through the process again, but I'm getting the same results. Checking with SAP I came across article 1328072 and could see that the universe file was in install directory Business Object Enterprise File Store Input, but there was no file that matched the universe CUID in install directory Business Object Enterprise Data domain Storage universes. The ITSM universe showed up correctly in both folders. We are running Business Objects XI 3.1 (Product Version 12.1.0.882) Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, what was the cause and how did you correct it?

For Activity universe, any difference between BOXI R2 and BOXI R3 2. After DB level migration(by CCM) from R2 to R3, whether the R2 's activity universe and sample reports kept, or they have been replaced by the R3's activity universe and sample reports? What is the default activity universe. It seems there are different version corresponding to different DB. After migration, I found the activity universe does not work, need to import the corresponding one again, auditingdbdb2.biar.

Is the default one for MySQL DB? Hi Caroline, Thank you very much for you reply.

I had done some tests and found 1. 'Update objects' in CCM will import the activity universe, if there is an existing activity universe, it will be overwritten. 'Update objects' in CCM will import folder 'Auditor' which contains all audit reports. If there is an existing Auditor folder in the repository, it will not import. For the new Auditing Database schema, there is one more column added to auditevent, it is OBJECTTYPE 4. I did a rough comparison on the activity universe between R2 and R3, they are basically the same.

Hello all, I am attempting to upgrade our existing staging environment to Remedy 8.1.002. I have successfully upgraded our development environment (which is non-server grouped).

When I attempt it on our staging environement with the same copy of the DB I used in dev, I can get to the ITSM installation. It fails here, and corrupts everything. The following is an enttry from the install logs of the ITSM installation: THROWABLE EVENT (Description=Program execution failed due return code 8922,Detail=Program not completed The ITSM installer fails here. A side not here, during the Atrium upgrade, I received a Port validation error, basically telling me my NE and Atrium ports were in use. It still allowed me to proceed with the upgrade and it upgraded successfully. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? I setup Analytics 7.6.06 running against our development environment back in May.

Initially it appeared to work. I was able to run some of the OOB reports just fine. Recently we imported data from our production system into dev so we could run reports just to demo to our change manager and other teams. Problem is I do not see the new records in the reports.

In the universe designer I only see the original values from May but nothing since, but in the DB that the universe is connected to I see all the new values too. Am I missing something? I thought that the universe was able to read the db without some sort of refresh action. Scenario: Customer has AR 7.5, CMDB 7.5, ITSM 7.03 p9 and SRM 7.6.00 If we were to attempt to install BMC Analytics 7.6.01 against the system above what version of the universe (the 7.1 or 7.5) would it install into Business Objects given that AR/SRM and ITSM are two different major versions?

Further, can anyone forsee the kind of issues such an installation may run into? Same question for Dashboards: There is little visibility into the 'under the hood' areas of Dashboards so I don't know if it contains separate logic for ITSM = 7.1 and ITSM = 7.5 installations. Does the Dashboards install detect the ITSM/ARS version and handle each differently? What is likely to happen in the situation above?

Hello, I wanted to know how Analytics manage the archive of ITSM incidents and how these information is accessible through Analytics' reports? I mean, as we're going to archive some incidents from HPD:Help Desk to a different form (for instance HPD:HelpDeskArchive) we wanted to to know how to make reports of this information with Web Intelligence and even join the information from HPD:Help Desk and HPD:HelpDeskArchive. Do we have to modify the Universe or update the Universe structure? Is there any procedure to do this in a simply manner as archive is a common procedure in Remedy? Hi, I am trying to use a universe as a data source for Crystal Reports 2008.

Bill Cipher The Universe Is A Hologram

The universe is defined on a simple relational Access DB table (.mdb file which resides on the server). After selecting the universe as data source, I can select measures and attributes from it, but after clicking 'ok' I am getting the error 'Fehler bei Anmeldung.'

('Logon failed.' Please note that although I am connecting to a relational (not OLAP!) DB, SAP-Note ' 1363326 - Error: Logon failed on Crystal Report conecting to OLAP Universe.' Describes exactly the error I am facing (except that this note is for OLAP universes). The universe works fine if I use it in WebI as data soruce. Which universes can Crystal Reports 2008 actually use in general? Are there any special restrictions for the data model? Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone, Does anybody know how can I import the ITSM universe in solaris platform?? My installation is completed, and Ive already started my configuration but I dont know what kind of procedure I have to follow to import the ITSM Universe. Ive been looking in the manuals but the only procedure to do it is on Windows. I tried to import the ITSM universe using the BO client, but I can establish the conexion. I'm running my first ITSM upgrade but am at a stopping point with the install. AR Server, MidTier, Atrium Core and Atrium Integrator have been updated, but during the ITSM install, I get the following message: ITSM 8.1.00 Install Completion Verification Complete upgrade to ITSM 8.1.00 is not completed as ITSM specefic attributes are not removed from CMDB.

Run ITSM 8.1.00 installer and remove ITSM specific attributes from CMDB by selecting attributes removal option on BMC Remedy ITSM CI Attribute Change Panel. Any suggestions on what to check? Much appreciated, -David. Hi Paola, Sorry, I haven't seen that error before.

To be honest, it was getting a little beyond my expertise so BMC was engaged. One of the things BMC had us do is send over the Zipper logs by running the BMCRemedyITSMSuiteMaintenanceTool. It's located in one of these two areas (depending if your a Windows or UNIX environment): Windows:%BMCREMEDYITSMHOME%/Utilities/BMCRemedyITSMSuiteMaintenanceTool.cmd UNIX: $BMCREMEDYITSMHOME/BMCRemedyITSMSuiteMaintenanceTool.sh After clicking the Zip logs button, it'll put the info in a temp directory: Windows:%TEMP% UNIX: /var/tmp/ or /tmp Best of luck! Hi Carl, Thanks for the update. I am working through the foundation data and will be testing Incident Management, Problem Management Change Management. Have you worked with these modules in 7.5?

Does anyone have hands on experience configuring and working through these ITSM modules in 7.5? My impression so far is there isn't a real look and feel difference between ITSM 703p8 and ITSM 7.5 (other than the Best Practices View). Everything just seems to be cleaner and streamlined in it's installation and configuration. Thanks in advance, Scott. Hi Folks, We've created a Linked Universe here to report from, I guess it's like using an overlay, so that upgrades can be made to ITSM and we can customize as we like on the derived UNV.

3 steps after linking say to: 'set the joins between the two structures, remove existing contexts, and re-detect aliases and contexts'. I had made a copy of the original universe and deleted all objects from it, then I Linked it to the ITSM universe.

So how exactly do I perform the above steps, it does not seem apparently clear? I have no real structure to join since it was an empty universe when I removed everything.

Is there an easy way to re-detect all the aliases and contexts automatically? Table by table would seem quite onerous. ITSM 7.6.04 SP2 SQL Server 2005 Thanks, Marco.

Hi Nihar, you either have a permanent or temporary disconnection from the imput FRS where the universe (and reports) are stored. Log out of Designer, log back in again and try to import the universe again. If you receive the same message, then log onto the CMC, go to Servers and ensure that the Input File Repository server is running. If it is running, double click the server to go into the properties. The default location for the input FRS is the install path for Business Objects (on windows) - if this has changed, you will see this indicated here.

I am trying to build my universe correctly, so I will be able to build some queries on it afterwards and then use it in the Xcelsius. I added all the DB tables in to the?Universe, and defend the relations between them (Joins). When I am trying to build a Query on it using the QaaWS, I see nothing below the Universe level. I tried to open via the QaaWS, the eFashion Universe (this is the Out of the sample box universe) and saw many types of objects such: Dimension, Precondition and so onu2026. How do I create those in my universe?

I tried using the Guide but could not find the bottom lineu2026. Autodata 3 23 keygen for mac. Hello all, finally I've installed my two nodes in RAC. From EM I can see all is working, also using SQLPlus. We installed Analytics and selected ITSM as the product in our environment. This installed the ITSM Universe and everything is working as designed. Now, we want to install the ProactiveNet Universe. I run the Analytics installer, uncheck the ITSM product and select the ProactiveNet product to just install that Universe.

A few installer screens later, it tells me that the ITSM Universe will be removed and that I should back up my customizations. If I only selected the ProactiveNet Universe to be installed, why is going to remove the ITSM Universe? Is this true and I should backup my customizations or is it a misleading message?

After sucessfully testing the reports in UAT, I migrated reports, ITSM universe from UAT to PROD and they are running successfully. But the scheduled reports in a recurrence pattern are not working in PROD and I am getting error 'Document can not be retrieved from the File Repository Server (WIS 30951) ' I am using SAP BI 4.0 SP6 and BMC Analytics 7.6.06 in all environment. Hi, I looking for the ITSM DataBase Entity Relationship for incident and change management. Is there a document that shows how these schema and tables are mapped and to which remedy forms?

I was reading the architecture manual, and I've only got a DER of major entities but its not enought to build reports with an external reporting tools. The reason to this questions, is because our customer is working with their final users tools and searching data into a separate and diferent instances of ITSM DB. Thank you all in advance.

Hi all, Does anyone know where I can find an updated Analytics Guide for 76.06 showing changes to the Universe. In the Release Notes it mentions: BMC Analytics for BSM can now be used to report on BMC Knowledge Management.

The new class Remedy Knowledge Management has been added to the ITSM universe, and new objects and conditions are available. For a complete list of objects and conditions added to the universe, see the attached spreadsheet' With this link: Thanks, Mike. I have gleaned a lot of helpful information from these boards so hopefully you can help me on this problem. I have installed BO (latest version) and BA (latest version 2.5.01) - fresh install - and I'm at the part where you're supposed to edit the connection to the BMC Remedy AR system server database (page 43). It says to go to toolsconnections, and edit the ITSM connection. But at the 'Edit ITSM Connection' window it appears with the login parameters but the Database field is not there. When I test the connection, it fails.

(This is an oracle db.) I know that the AR server is there and all the connection infomation is correct. Has anybody else experienced this? If so do you know what caused it?

And how do you resolve it? Thank you, Keith Parker. Hi We are performing an ITSM 6.x to ITSM 7.5 migration. I would be glad if you can help me with the path that should be taken. Challenges in front of us are: 1) We would want the data from ITSM 6.3 made available in ITSM 7.5? How feasible is this and what would be the best way to achieve this? 2) Also the older version of ITSM (6.3) was on Oracle 9i, now we want the ITSM 7.5 on a MS SQL Server.

How to take care of this activity taking into consideration point number 1 above? 3) We would want to integrate followign with ITSM 7.5 a) TIVOLI b) Peoplesoft c) Sharepoint Anyone has any ideas on integrations of ITSM 7.5. There are preimplemented integration of the above with ITSM 6.3, can those be used as guidelines for newer integrations with ITSM 7.5? Hi Parag, we used a tool 'ARSEasy Script' to migrate from ITSM 6 to 7. It's very flexible and can split data from 2 specific tables in ITSM 6 to 5 different tables in ITSM7 considering the data model. This is independent from your databases you're using.

I'm sure the ITSM6 to ITSM7 migration script is still up-to-date and available. We did numbers of such migration projects in the past and for a fix price. By integrating to a few partner systems it's very useful to use only one piece of software. This reduces maintenance and it's easier to trouble shoot. A lot of our customers a very happy with this approach. Furthermore it's easier to integrate new systems to your server.

Hi All, We have Analytics 7.6.04 in our environment. We are planning for Analytics upgrade. We have added custom objects and tables to ITSM OOTB universe itself and we have many reports using this universe. I know during upgrade all the customizations will be gone and we will have to manually re-apply all the customizations. Going forward i would like to use linked universe feature in order to avoid the loss of customizations.

Is there a way by which i can point all the existing reports to the linked universe? Please help me in this issue Thanks in advance Regards, Pavithra P. However can't run any report through infoview (I have already checked for the user permissions and username is same as in Remedy). Error: A database error occured.

I noticed that on the BO server I couldn't find any DB, I know that there has to be a datasource to hold CMS data. Do i need to install the full dB on this server? I don't know if this could be the probable cause.

Can you please confirm if this is the cause of time difference, do we need to set this to 'Y' to enable the Day light saving? Waiting for your response. Regards, Tauceef.

Hi all, At the time of signing the BMC Remedy ITSM environment does not display any records of any of the modules, with refresh or changing the search criteria (assigned support group, sent for me, etc) neither function. This behavior is replicated on any console ITSM modules (Console BMC Remedy Change, Incident, problem, etc). This fault is not constant, appears with different users and at different times. It occurs only in the architecture of Server Groups. (Two Web server, Web Balancer, two server APP, APP and DB Balancer). Thanks and Best Regards. Hello Hetal, AFAIK HPDHELPDESKASSIGNMENTLOG will give the details of Incident logs history and doesn't store the current record.

If you need to get the history of Incidents then use HPDHELPDESKASSIGNMENTLOG else use HPDHELPDESK. The OOTB ITSM Universe already has a join on IncidentNumber object from Help Desk and Work Log tables. You just to pull Assignee from Incident Assignment Detail Assignee class and then use for Work Logs use objects from Incident Work Info class.

See if it helps. Regards, Abhay.

Hi everone, Im testing the customization of Analytics ITSM Universe. Im trying to make a new universe 'ITSMUpgraded' with a link to the OOB ITSM Universe, as recommended in Best Practices.

Everything seems to be ok in universe creation but when i try to make a webi with new universe i obtain this error if i use any of the objects created in the new universe but no errors if i only use objects of the OOB universe: Query 1 - ITSMUpgraded Some objects are no longer available in the universe. See your Business Objects administrator. (Error: WIS 00001) Any ideas?? I have seen this error in the past if a report use an object that was deleted in the universe but in this case the object exist (Ive created it early) and appears in the available objects tree for querys. Your collaboration will be apreciated!!
