Hello Everyone, Does this community have any jailbroken PS3 experts? Specifically regarding the activation of.rap files for PSN games?

No joke, I have been testing and researching this process for the past 2 weeks now, all of which has resulted in the same unfortunate conclusion - error #80010017. Does anyone here know what the problem is? My specs: CFW: Rogero v4.55 PSN Account: Maybe, as I bought the system used with standard, non-jailbroken firmware from another person. Post jailbreak though, I have never taken the system online, nor do I have a PSN account. To the best of my knowledge, all previous profiles on the PS3 have been deleted post-jailbreak. Testing Plan: I downloaded the.rap file necessary to activate the PSN game (no, I will not plug the site). I placed this file in a folder titled 'exdata' (quotations added to this message, but not the actual folder name) onto a FAT32-formatted USB drive, which is located in the right-most port of the PS3. I have also placed the.pkg file/game on the root of the USB drive as well.

I already have ReactPSN installed on the PS3 for the 'PS2 Classics Placeholder' application. Though I did totally delete and reinstall this program from scratch (v3.20+) during one of my tests - same result though (error #80010017).

I log into the ReactPSN account on the PSN, rename it to 'AA' (quotations added for this message only). I run ReactPSN to activate the.rap file and install it into the PS3 hdd0 home 000000005 profile (this is the ReactPSN dummy profile on my system). Once the system resets, I sign into my normal account and install the.pkg file. As stated above, this always results in the same error message (80010017). I have replicated this same result on a friend's jailbroken PS3 running Rebug 4.75 CFW, so I am assuming the issue is not Rogero-related. I can launch all 'C00'-style PSN games without issue, as well as boot any back-up game via multiman or retail disc via the blueray drive.

I assume this means the issue is not related to my hardware per se. Even using alternative programs, such as PSNope or PSNPatch result in the same error message. Has anyone else encountered this problem and ideally resolved it? I am confident the.rap files I am getting are legit. To the best of my knowledge, my testing plan outlined above is accurate per the guidance listed on the web for ReactPSN. I am therefore left with the conclusion, my profile is somehow not setup correctly, or I am missing a file, or there is some system key/config file that needs to be tweaked.

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading. Also my apologies if this question is inappropriate with this site. My goal is to gain information from the community, and not actual current/last generation software. Have you ever been on PSN? Yout need a legit act.dat or to use different firmware like Rebug in order to use a public act.dat then as you said add your raps/edsats in fat32 formatted flash drive.

I suggest a clean freshly formatted one with only exdata folder Then make a second account named 'as' both lower case then run ReActPSN without pressing any buttons. If done correctly the profile name will change showing how many files you have activated. You have to change the name back to aa before installing more raps/rifs/edats again I useReActPSN but PSNPatch works jsit fine as well. PSNope hasn't been updated for support over 4.30 if I recall and it is firmware dependant. Zengobag wrote:NOT reading that lot as it supposed to be a 'Retro' site. Others will help. Not too good on PS3 anyway myself.

What the hell is wrong with you? If you're not going to read it, don't bother fucking responding.

To activate.RAP files, I've always used software called 'PSNSTUFF' to download them, and 'REACTPSN' to quickly activate them. I'd throw them on a Flash-Drive, launch REACTPSN, and it would automatically mount and patch them up. I had a similar issue with ReactPSN. After you make the 'AA' account. Sign out of it, and sign into your main account.

Then run ReactPSN from your main account with your USB drive in the far left port. First, I want to say thank you to all actual helpful responses as I really appreciate the help. In response to the suggestions received so far: 1) I have never been on PSN nor do I have an account. If at all possible, I would prefer to keep it that way. It is my understanding ReactPSN can make a dummy/universal PSN act.dat credential (which I have in my AA profile already), but if I am understanding 'Metal Velcro' correctly, this method is not compatible with my current firmware (Rogero 4.55). 2) My question is though, if I install Rebug v4.75 (current one), directly over Rogero (4.55) will I mess up anything, or delete my existing Games or game library? Furthermore, as I wrote in my original post, I tried my testing plan on a friend's jailbroken PS3 running Rebug 4.75.

This also resulted in error #80010017, so I am not sure where that leaves us. The problem could be my testing plan or the.rap file, but somehow I don't think so. As is my understanding, my friend's PS3 running Rebug has never been on PSN either. Maybe I did not setup ReACTPSN correctly by linking x and y together?

Does that seem plausible? 3) I have tried Voultar's suggestion to run ReACTPSN from my actual account (with an AA profile created), then install the game from the main account via the LEFT USB port, but this too resulted in the same error message. I am willing to switch/upgrade CFW's, as long as it doesn't delete all of my existing backup games on the HDD.

Can someone please confirm that would not happen? Thanks Again! I am not sure if I am spoofing or not.

Rap File For Ps2 Classics On Psn

Is there a way or program I can run that can confirm that? I had PSNpatch installed (but i deleted it last week in frustration). Last time I checked, I am pretty sure it said my PSID and that other serial number were identical to one another. If that has nothing to do with spoofing, please forgive my stupidity as I don't claim to be an expert. Regarding upgrading my CFW from Rogero to Rebug 4.75, I am currently in the process of backing up all of the retail disc images, so it may take another couple of days before I can run this specific test.

It would help me immensely, if someone could please attempt to activate a game from PSNDL to confirm the issue is not the.rap file itself (and therefore me/my CFW/something else unknown). X-Men Arcade Game is only 50 MB, so it is a pretty quick test. Thanks again for not giving up on me. I really appreciate the help. Also, that Tupac joke was actually pretty funny. Thanks again for not giving up on me. I really appreciate the help. Also, that Tupac joke was actually pretty funny. Has anyone ever lost game images from upgrading/changing firmware flavors? And I've been on several different Rogero's/Rebug's. I don't believe firmware updates on the NAND/NOR have an affect on hard-disk structure. Don't hold me to that, I could be very wrong.

So, this is probably going to be my last post regarding this specific issue as I am officially giving up at this point. I have backed up my HDD's 'Games' folder, installed Rebug CFW v4.75 (no games were deleted btw), and repeated my above-outlined test. Care to guess the outcome? Correct, same freaking error message - 80010017.

Based on what I able to research online (and understand mind you), this error has something to an invalid signature or firmware version that game is expecting. So, I downloaded a resigner-program and changed both the.SFO and the eboot files to reflect my new CFW of 4.75. Again, same freaking error message. At this point, I think it is safe to assume the problem is likely my profile. As Metal Velcro pointed out above, it is possible I need a legit, PSN-assigned act.dat file on my system, and since I have never used used PSN before, that must be reason. So you win Playstation.

Should I ever upgrade to the current generation of consoles, I will make sure it is xbone just to spite you. God forgives - Tonka Tuff doesn't. Thank you to everyone that tried to help me with this topic.

I really appreciate the guidance. It really is great to have community of knowledgeable people to bounce ideas and requests off of. Regards and rage on people. I am sure no one is reading this post at this point, but I thought I would update the post anyway should another user run across this post in the future. I was finally able to resolve this issue by reinstalling REBUG 4.75 CFW. I don't understand why or how this resolved the issue, but thankfully it did. I am now able to activate.rap files and activate dlc like a champ.

Do yourself a favor and just reinstall the latest version of REBUG CFW. It worked for me - it should work for you. Rage on people.

Full pack of US region PS2 Classics for PS3. Needs CFW 4.21 or higher.

1.Install reActPSN. Install reActPSN but do not run it. 2.You are now ready to activate PSN content. Create a folder named 'exdata' on the root of your external drive. Within this folder you must place.rap files for the content you wish to activate.rap files are files which activate PSN content without containing any information of the original buyer of the content. Do not rename the files, paste them in the exdata folder as they are.

Once done, connect your external drive to the right most port on your PS3 (If you get kicked back to the xmb try switching ports). Do not connect multiple USB devices, only the drive which contains the exdata folder with.rap files. Create a new user profile on your XMB named aa. The aa profile is required for using reActPSN and run it from the aa profile only.

Log in to aa profile from the XMB and run reActPSN (no button needs to be pressed if you have only placed.rap files in the exdata folder). The PS3 will reboot after processing the rap files. This may take a while depending on the number of.rap files. You may be greeted with a message that your ps3 was not shut down properly upon restart. Don't panic. This is normal.Press circle to skip. You will notice that the aa profile has changed/renamed to reActPSN. This also contains the number of activated rifs and edats.rif files are files created from the.rap files by reActPSN to activate the content for your PS3.

Do not use reActPSN profile to run reActPSN. Create the user profile aa once more to use for activating raps in the future. After this you will not be required to create this profile again as running reActPSN from the aa profile will not rename it. So you should have 2 profiles which deal with reActPSN on your XMB: aa profile which you need to use to run reActPSN and reActPSN profile which tells you the number of rifs and edats you have activated (and actually stores the rif files for content you have activated). 3.You can now install the pkg file for the content Now login to your normal profile on the XMB and proceed to Install the pkg file for the content you just activated. The content you installed should now work.
